Misty Wensel

Misty Wensel’s dance practice flows from a place of curiosity and connection—through impromptu responses to DJ mixes, social exchanges, and a lifelong inquiry into organic expression.

A graduate of the University of Regina (B.Ed. in Dance), Misty has shared her craft for over two decades. In 2004, she founded FadaDance, Regina’s first contemporary dance studio, creating a vibrant community for dancers of all ages. Her work with students and The FadaDance Youth Company has toured across Canada and internationally.

Misty is a co-founder of FadaDance Troupe, a Regina-based collective creating inquisitive contemporary works. Recent projects include Holloway, performed in the Qu’Appelle Valley (2022) and at Darke Hall (2023). Their latest work, Weight of Our Feet—a land-based dance film released in fall 2024—will be featured in The Memory of Trees exhibition at the MacKenzie Art Gallery in fall 2025.

As a solo artist, Misty creates Kathak-infused contemporary work, shaped through mentorship with Joanna de Souza of M-Do (Toronto). Their collaborative work Bardo, which toured India in 2018, remains a key influence in her evolving practice.
