Misty Wensel

Misty Wensel’s dance practice flows from a place of curiosity and connection—through impromptu responses to DJ mixes, social exchanges, and a lifelong inquiry into organic expression.

A graduate of the University of Regina (B.Ed. in Dance), Misty has shared her craft for over two decades. In 2004, she founded FadaDance, Regina’s first contemporary dance studio, creating a vibrant community for dancers of all ages. Her work with students and The FadaDance Youth Company has toured across Canada and internationally.

Misty is a co-founder of FadaDance Troupe, a Regina-based collective creating inquisitive contemporary works. Recent projects include Holloway, performed in the Qu’Appelle Valley (2022) and at Darke Hall (2023). Their latest work, Weight of Our Feet—a land-based dance film was featured in The Memory of Trees exhibition at the MacKenzie Art Gallery 2025-26.

Recently returning to teaching at Miller High School, Misty continues to root her practice in the art of story—creating from it, teaching through it, and continually finding inspiration within it. In 2025, she worked as Movement Director on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at Globe Theatre and is excited to return to the role for It’s a Wonderful Life, this year’s Christmas production at the Globe Theatre.

As a solo artist, Misty creates Kathak-infused contemporary work, shaped through mentorship with Joanna de Souza of M-Do (Toronto). Their collaborative work Bardo, which toured India in 2018, remains a key influence in her evolving practice.
