Fran Gilboy
Fran has been an instructor/choreographer with FadaDance since its inception in 2004 and for over 2 decades, has married a mindfulness practice with her love of dance. Her teaching has taken her from Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California to Dance and the Child International conferences in Jamaica and Taiwan. Her contributions to the dialogue between dance and mindfulness are featured in the academic anthology Dancing with Dharma: Essays on Movement and Dance in Western Buddhism.
She believes that incorporating mindfulness and strength training in the studio helps dancers ground into their bodies and assists in quieting busy minds, thus enabling students to be fully present and authentic in the unfolding of their creative selves.
Her classes emphasize strength, flexibility, and the repetition of repertoire. Drawing from a wide range of practices and physical explorations, Fran invites dancers to approach both real and perceived limitations with curiosity and confidence. Her teaching encourages attentive listening, creative problem-solving, and a deepened relationship with one’s own moving body.
