Kendra Kembel
Kendra Kembel is a healing and movement artist living on Treaty 4 Territory. Her movement is grounded and strong, rooted in emotion and guided by a deep connection to the land, energy, lived experience, and her collaborators. Through dance, she explores the intersections of embodiment, storytelling, and healing, creating space for transformation and connection.
Kendra holds an Honours Degree in Sociology from the University of Saskatchewan, where her studies were rooted in social justice. After moving to Treaty 4 Territory (Regina) 20 years ago, she felt called to re-imagine her way of living—embracing mindfulness through the practice, study, and teaching of the healing arts, including Reiki, reflexology, and somatic experiencing. Movement, through both dance and yoga, became an integral part of her personal growth and professional life.
Kendra has deep roots in dance and community through her long-standing relationship with FadaDance. What began 20 years ago with an adult dance class evolved into an explorative journey of artistry. Her collaborations with FadaDance have spanned multiple roles—dancer, instructor, and choreographer—reflecting the many layers of her creative life. Most recently, she co-created and performed in (B)reach, an experimental duet with choreographer Heather Cameron and duet partner Isabella Wishlow, which premiered at the 2025 Stream of Dance Festival presented by New Dance Horizons. That same year, Kendra had the great joy of co-creating and performing Double Helix with her daughter and collaborator, Suki Kembel, as part of Rhythm Dust. Her other notable works include contributions to the Trails Ensemble, led by choreographer Misty Wensel. Their performances have included Trespassers Waltz for the National Arts Centre’s Grand Acts of Theatre (2020), a collaboration with the Regina Symphony Orchestra (2021), and full-length productions of Holloway (June 2022, April 2023).
In her classes, Kendra draws on strength, rigour, precision, symmetry, playfulness, and emotional expression—creating space for dancers to move with power, joy, and authenticity, while offering opportunities to listen to the wisdom of their own bodies.
